How do you fix a slow drip coffee maker?
A drip coffee maker that uses gravity. A potful of water poured into the reservoir is held there temporarily by a heat-sensitive bimetallic strip that acts as a plug for the reservoir’s drain hole. When the switch is turned on, the heating and warming elements heat up, and the bimetallic strip bends, unplugging the drain hole. Dripping over the heating element, the water heats to brewing temperature and seeps through the basket that holds the ground coffee. When all the water has dripped through, a thermostat shuts off the heating element, but the warming element stays on to keep the coffee warm.
All the parts of this type of coffee maker slide out of the housing. If the coffee maker does not work at all, test the terminals of the electric cord and the on/off switch for continuity: if either one shows no continuity, replace it. If the cord and switch show continuity and the warming element works but the heating element does not, the problem is in the heating element or in its fuse or thermostat. All three must be replaced as a unit. First pull out the pin holding the element to the tray, and disconnect the spade connectors from their terminals, Install a new heating element in the same position. To replace the warming element, unscrew it from the base plate, disconnect its wires from their terminals in the tray and attach a new warming element in the same position,
