Food mixer repair | Why did my food mixer stop working?

Upgrading a worn food mixer

The switch on a food mixer, like that on a blender, often has multiple settings that control motor speed by activating certain windings of the motor. The motor shaft is a worm gear that turns two gears, and they rotate the beaters.
If the switch does not turn the motor on, or if the motor operates only at certain speeds, remove the top of the mixer housing and inspect the terminals on the switch for bent or dirty contacts or loose wires. Test the switch for continuity; if even one setting shows no continuity, you must replace the switch. Replace damaged gear wheels as shown at down.

Replacing a food mixer's gears

Remove the top of the mixer housing and unscrew the bracket that holds the gears in position. Lift out the gears and replace both of them, even if only one is broken. Install the new gears with the L arrow of the left gear facing the R arrow of the right gear, so that the blades of the beaters will mesh without striking each other. Lubricate the gear teeth with petroleum jelly before you put the bracket and housing back on the mixer.
